The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (Ordo initiationis christianae adultorum), or OCIA, is the restored ancient rite used by the early Church in the first three centuries for its catechumenate for prospective converts to the Catholic faith above the age of infant baptism. Candidates are gradually introduced to aspects of Catholic beliefs and practices.
The basic process applies to adults and children who have reached the age of 7 as the normative way to receive Baptism or Full Admission into the Catholic Church.
If you are an adult (over the age of 7), whether previously baptized in another Christian tradition or not at all, you may begin the process for becoming a Catholic called OCIA. This is a year-long period of study and preparation. For further information, please contact the Parish Priest at the Parish Office.
